i love to ballroom dance.
i could not live without my 160gb ipod.
i think lost is the greatest tv show of all time.
my big hoop earrings and adidas superstars are my favourite accessories.
if i had to pick one meal to eat everyday, it would be thai green curry shrimp.

i surround myself with everything (and everybody) in this world that brings me joy and i also feel so fortunate that i absolutely love what i do for a living.

"in every job that must be done, there is an element of fun.
you find the fun, and SNAP - the job's a game!" - mary poppins

that's been my approach to life ever since i attempted to clean-up my bedroom by snapping my fingers (okay, so i was only 7 years old and it didn't work. neither did laughing my guts out with the hope that i would float to the ceiling). i still think that there is a world of truth to that quote and i put it to good practice everyday.

i'm a big goofy kid-at-heart and a self-proclaimed geek, so when i finally figured out that i could combine those two traits, i discovered the perfect profession for myself...a child and animal photographer. so how did i find my path to this realization? why i used my magic carpet bag of coarse (okay, kidding)!

looking back, it all started with begging my parents for a puppy. when i finally got my wish at age 9, my lovely airedale jenna (named after priscilla presley's character on dallas...mom was a fan) became the object of my affection and my favourite subject to photograph. i have albums upon albums of photos of her (seriously, someone should have stopped me...poor dog). after jenna, came bailey and she was also a fabulous best friend and model. after bailey passed away too soon and my heart broke for the second time, i put my camera down and grew up.

as an adult, i worked in film and television production for many years and was fortunate enough to travel around the world for work. while on location in morocco i fell in love with a dirty street puppy. my beautiful tichka came back to canada with me and immediately became my muse. with the digital age on the cusp, it was perfect timing for me to jump back into animal photography. when my gorgeous niece was born a few years later, watching her grow and change inspired me to capture the fleeting moments of childhood.

i love working with children and animals. never will you meet purer souls in this world. they wear their hearts on their sleeves. they have an innate curiosity and an infectious sense of wonderment for everything around them. they give us the most honest moments in life...often catching us off guard and usually bringing us to tears with laughter. these are the moments that i am delighted to have the opportunity to capture.

my hope is that my organic approach, easy going attitude and general love of life will help to showcase the inner spirit of all those i photograph.
